Constructed in 1882, 443 Greenwich was intended as a book bindery. Following some developments, the buildings popularity as an oasis for celebrities to turn their high-profile lives into low profile ones, has made it one of the most popular spots for the rich and famous to reside in the area.

The paparazzi-proof, 53-unit building, was developed by Nathan Berman. And as you might have guessed privacy was key in the development processes. The building has a 24-hour concierge, with a double-gated underground carpark, lower level lobby and a private elevator for each condo. The character of the original building remains with the exposed beams and columns an elegant feature.

As with any apartment complex there are areas the residence share, but none quite so luxurious as those at 443 Greenwich St. The marble lap-pool, Turkish baths, roof deck, fitness centre, steam room, wine centre, children’s playroom and the 371-square metre central courtyard are shared by the likes of Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel, Rebel Wilson, Bella Hadid, Harry Styles and Jake Gyllenhaal.

In New York, apartments in the building come in at about USD 2.95 million, and USD 20 million for a penthouse (although there are rumours that if you’re the “right type” you might get a USD 7 million discount – looking at you JT and Jessica Biel). However, if buying is not your style, you can rent one of these bad boys out. Jennifer Lawrence is reportedly renting her apartment for around USD 30,000 per month.

If you’re not after a long-term stay in New York, not to worry, 443 Greenwich isn’t the only “it” building in the area. Just a 4-minute walk down the road is The Greenwich Hotel, full of Tibetan silk rugs, hand laid Moroccan tiles and a level perfection you’ll only find in a luxury hotel.

Of the 88 rooms and suites, none are alike. They all offer something unique in their design, layout and presentation. Although when it comes to the TriBeCa Penthouse suite, it goes above and beyond all expectations. And almost rivals that of 443 Greenwich Street.

Whether you’re living it up with A-listers at 443 Greenwich Street or a neighbour at The Greenwich Hotel, you’ll find your own slice of modern paradise in one of the most sought after locations in New York.
